Rodrigo Cunha | O Mundo de Dentro
Curated by Josué Mattos, the exhibition O Mundo de Dentro features 16 canvases by the artist from Santa Catarina depicting idle characters in passage rooms. Although the compositions have few and characteristic chromatic and iconographic elements, they are configured in completely different ways.
According to Rodrigo Cunha, his work refers to the world of sensations and the ambition to reveal the hidden and deep meaning of facts, “perhaps a desire to retain time in this era when, more than any other, duration is not rewarded”, says the artist. According to Josué Mattos, who created a parallel between the work of Rodrigo Cunha and the short story O Alienista by Machado de Assis for the exhibition catalogue, “the exhibition deals with intimate space with the same estrangement with which we face the unlikely, the insipid or the unknown. This is because we have not been trained to look inward. [...] We almost never contemplate the world within, the universe that we carry.”
Julia Kater | Lugar do Outro
In Zip’Up room, Julia Kater presents works dealing with the diversity of photography through video, collages and photographs. The transforming action of man on the landscape is commented in her work. Under the curatorship of Mario Gioia, four newly produced photographic works will be shown alongside the video O Tempo do Branco (2011), in which the simple inversion of the camera orientation allows new perceptions of the landscape.
