Felipe Góes São Paulo, b. 1983

Felipe Góes (São Paulo, Brazil, 1983) lives and works in São Paulo. He has pursued his own artistic practice since the age of 22. He studied Painting at Instituto Tomie Ohtake under Paulo Pasta (2008–2012), Art History with Rodrigo Naves (2007 and 2016), and Architecture at Universidade Mackenzie (2002–2006). He is currently pursuing an MFA in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the United States.

Góes’s research investigates the production and perception of images in contemporary life, taking natural landscape and the cosmos as its point of departure. His brushwork is expressive, his palette features vibrant, boldly imagined colors, and each canvas functions as an open window through which viewers can project their own memories. The landscapes emerge from the encounter between memory and fantasy, in “non-places” that verge on abstraction. In his work, landscape functions as a means of reflecting on nature, the environment, and existence on planet Earth.

His solo exhibitions include Ser Ilha at Zipper Galeria (São Paulo, 2025); Disco Celeste at Zipper Galeria (São Paulo, 2023); Zirkadianer Rhythmus at Galeria Kogan Amaro (Zurich, 2022); Ciclo Circadiano at Galeria Kogan Amaro (São Paulo, 2022); Cataclismo at Galeria Kogan Amaro (São Paulo, 2019); Bennu at Galeria Virgílio (São Paulo, 2018); Paisagens at Galeria Murilo Castro (Belo Horizonte, 2018); Paisagem incerta at Instituto Moreira Salles (Poços de Caldas, 2017); Recanto at Museu Universitário de Arte da UFU (Uberlândia, 2017); Ocaso at Galeria Virgílio (São Paulo, 2016); Dissolução at Central Galeria de Arte (São Paulo, 2014); Dilute at Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (Arizona, 2014); and A aparência da memória at Usina do Gasômetro (Porto Alegre, 2012).
