Consuelo Veszaro (Jandira, SP, Brazil, 1978) lives and works in São Paulo. Her practice begins with drawing as a primary element and expands from the plane into three-dimensional space, moving between painting, sculpture and installation. Veszaro enrolled in a Fine Arts program in 1998 and has since developed a body of research around line and geometry, the foundational elements of the image (from point to plane), and the relationship between materiality and space.
Veszaro's poetics investigates the line as an event. The artist describes her process as a dialogue, likening it to a game of tennis in which each stroke gives something back to the person drawing, while the line reverberates through space and in the viewer. In her work, the line painted on the canvas and the line sculpted in space operate as equivalents: the sculptures are treated as three-dimensional drawings. They function as visual architectures that stand in a state of vulnerability, braced against the floor or wall and integrated into the environment they inhabit.
The artist's palette is essentialist, composed of blacks, whites, grays, reds and ochres that form a chromatic set maintaining the precision of the gesture and the breathing of empty spaces. The compositions unfold one from another, without hierarchy or fixed origin; the negative spaces suggest unfinished trajectories, in which the interval and precarious balance matter as much as the line itself.
Veszaro joined Zipper Galeria's roster of represented artists in 2024, where she held her solo exhibition A expansão da linha that same year. She has participated in group exhibitions including the 5ª Bienal Internacional Arte Gaia (Portugal, 2023), the 4ª Bienal Arte Gaia (Portugal, 2021), the 51º Salão Luiz Sacilotto (Santo André, 2024), the 21º Salão Território da Arte de Araraquara (2024), the Salão Nacional de Arte de Jaguariúna (2022), the 16º Salão Nacional de Arte Contemporânea de Guarulhos (2020), the 51º Salão de Arte Contemporânea de Piracicaba (2019), Tanto mar e Nomear é aludir at the Centro Cultural dos Correios (Rio de Janeiro, 2024) and Cassia Bomeny (Rio de Janeiro, 2024), and Memória do Futuro at the Memorial Getúlio Vargas (Rio de Janeiro, 2023).
