Hidden in the Lower East Side, a neighbourhood that for generations received the immigrants newly arrived in New York, Freeman Alley is a dead-end lane that opens discreetly off Rivington Street and ends at the door of a restaurant installed there in the early 2000s. What gave it fame, however, are the walls, covered with ever-renewed layers of graffiti and anonymous interventions.
